Berger Paints has been vacationing on the Isle since we started. When Berger first sailed to our shores they were a little unsure as to how they could leverage their partnership with Legacy Australia. Our solution? A community program we coined as Paint for a Mate to help those in need. The program helped 26 families and widows of war veterans by providing their home with a fresh coat of paint and general tidy up.

In 2017, we broadened the brush strokes by calling on the wider community to Nominate a Mate for the program, be it local charities, groups and individuals who have fallen on tough times and would benefit from a repaint. The program has now supported over 30 families across six states and territories.

Reasons to celebrate:

  • We created a concept with longevity; it’s been integrated across Berger’s trade marketing and to customers today still.
  • Each project has been promoted via local TV, print and online, reaching over 25.9 million people.
  • We continue to create shareable content including videos of repaints to visuals for the program’s partner’s socials
  • To celebrate the program’s expansion, Sunrise and Weekend Sunrise ran a national call out, resulting in over 1000 submissions.
  • Weather presenter James Tobin lent his support to a NSW repaint and The Morning Show also shared a local’s story
  • The program has also become a proud talking point internally amongst Berger employers and stakeholders.
