There are many great things in this world… chocolate, Ryan Gosling and half price margarita night at our local dive bar. All these things hold a special place in our heart, but none as much as our love for good food (obviously!) and honest design. So, when we were asked to help launch a new designer glass tableware brand to Australia, we were so excited you’d have thought we’d have had one too many half-priced margaritas!

AnnaVasily is a contemporary glass tableware brand created by international designer from Greece Anna Papaharisi. Anna’s tableware range is far from the average white round dinner plate; the collection is carefully crafted from high-quality glass and features a metallic colour palette, natural textures and patterns, and uniquely shaped designs. The product’s been used in luxury hotels and restaurants around the world from the Savoy Hotel in London through to the Ritz Paris. Even tough gun Gordon Ramsey has a soft spot for Anna’s creations.

So how did we launch their creations on our home turf? We had Anna together with her partner Vasily fly to the heartland of great food and design to share their story and inspiration of course!

In partnership with the Garden State Hotel, highlight pieces from the AnnaVasily Autumn/Winter collection were matched to a seven-course degustation menu by the talented Ash Hicks. The dinnertable was set for an intimate group of fifteen design media and influencers from Artichoke, The Age, In Design, Habitus, The Design Addicts Platform to The Second Row and Five of the Best, just to name a few.

Facilitated by good friend and interior architect Jean-Pierre Biasol, the dinner party was an opportunity to hear from Anna and Vasily and learn more about their design principles. It also allowed guests to see the range in a real-life setting, provided the chance to learn about AnnaVasily’s craft, whilst taking part in a robust discussion about ‘embracing design’s imperfections’ with champagne bottles popping well into the evening.
